The AI and Defense Institute (AIDI) promotes, enables, and pioneers the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in defense sector. It works in collaboration with the government, business, and academia to strategically enhance the capabilities of the armed forces.

It acts as a forward-thinking hub, expediting the thorough comprehension, advancement, and application of AI capabilities in the realms of defense and security
It facilitates the provision of AI services, expert consultations, and a substantial amount of expertise to assist in the local adoption of AI.
It accelerates innovation by advancing AI initiatives and research to enhance security, decision-making, and operational efficiency, aligned with defense goals.

The Goals

Our goal is to establish ourselves as a trusted and impactful think tank in the defense sector, setting standards, driving innovation, and empowering defense departments to achieve AI readiness, thereby ensuring a strategic advantage for armed forces.

We are committed to collaborating with local, regional, and international partners in academia, industry, and governments to achieve our vision and objectives. Our initiatives range from administrative functions to frontline operations. That’s including:

Increasing the efficacy of an organization by optimizing resource utilization and increasing the speed of task completion.
Enhancing the quality of decision-making and the speed of operations.
Enhancing the security and resilience of interconnected networks.
Ensuring the safety of army personnel by automating duties that are physically demanding, hazardous, and repetitive.

Our vision is to pave a way for a more engaged connection between AIDI and the wider AI community, by encouraging open cooperation and linking the most talented individuals to obtain a strategic edge.

AIDI will leverage advancements in AI to guide and synchronize technology development, developing a robust framework for providing the most updated knowledge and programmes. The primary objective of this mission is to establish a highly interactive and interconnected AI ecosystem , in which the defense sector cooperate with a wide range of sectors including business, academia, and government organisations to provide strategic capabilities to the armed forces.

To facilitate this, AIDI is undertaking the following initiatives:

Establishing an AI Network in the defence, security, and technology sectors to promote talent exchange, co-creation, and collaboration. This network will support countries to develop comprehensive national security prepaparedness by encouraging investment from the civil sector in defense-relevant AI research and development.
To ensure that our governmental and industrial partnets’ perspectives and requirements are satisfied, AIDI will form a specialised team comprised of crown servants and seconded private-sector professionals.
